Distributors Say Agneepath Among Year’s Biggest Openers

A mammoth star cast, the remake of a cult classic and buzzing already, Agneepath is expected to take a historic opening when it releases on Thursday. Moreover, releasing on a national holiday (Republic Day) and a solo release, there’s a lot riding on this Hrithik Roshan-Sanjay Dutt starrer.

The response to advance bookings has been fabulous and distributors are keeping their fingers crossed for this Dharma Productions product. The bottom line: tradewallahs are pegging the film’s first-day collections at Rs 18 crore, all-India nett box office collections.

In Mumbai, Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says, “Agneepath has created a tremendous stir at the box office and is expected to collect Rs 18 crore all-India and Rs 6.5 crore in Mumbai along, on its opening day.”

In Gujarat, Ajay Bagbai of Rajvi Trade Link says the film will appeal to the classes and the masses. “From production value to its star cast, everything about this film is pleasing. All-India collections will cross Rs 15 crore on day one whereas, in Gujarat, the film will gross Rs 1.5-2 crore.”

The mood is equally upbeat in Delhi-UP, where Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts says, “Agneepath has already drawn a massive response from the audience. It will definitely be a money spinner and the domestic numbers will be around Rs 18 crore while in our circuit, the film will collect Rs 3.5 crore.”

In East Punjab Surendra Saluja of Lakshya Movies says the film has drawn a tremendous response. He pegs its first-day collections at Rs 70-80 lakh.

In West Bengal, Debashish Dey of Aum Moviez says the national holiday will work in the film’s favour and it will earn around Rs 1 crore in West Bengal and Rs 18-20 crore nationally on its opening day”

In CI, Ashok Choudhary of Neha Movies says, “Agneepath will collect around Rs 50 lakh in the CI region. The film will start the year with a bang.”

In Bihar, Rakesh Singh of Maa Sona Films remarks, “Films like Agneepath have a huge market in Bihar. The film has generated a great response from the audience here and it is expected to cross Rs 40 lakh on day one.”

In Mysore, B H Basha of Bahar Enterprises adds, “All-India NBOC of Agneepath will cross Rs 15 crore for sure and in the Mysore circuit, the film will garner around Rs 75 lakh. There are gigantic expectations attached to this film.”

In Orissa, Jeetu Khandelwal of Movie Pioneers concludes, “Agneepath has drawn a very positive reaction from the audience. It will earn Rs 20 lakh in Orissa tomorrow and is headed for an awesome weekend.”
