Never mind setting the box office on fire, Salman Khan’s magnum opus Ek Tha Tiger (ETT) is set to smash records at the ticket counter. The hugely anticipated film – billed to be the film of the year – Yash Raj Films’ Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Ek Tha Tiger released today. Early morning shows received an overwhelming response across territories and the cash registers are still furiously ringing. The national holiday on account of Independence Day has definitely worked in favor of the film, and the festival month of Eid has once again proved lucky for Khan.
Contributing to the tremendous buzz around the film is the fact that Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are sharing screen space after four years. Also considering the track record of Khan’s films, expect collections to get only bigger and better as the day unfolds.
Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says, “In Mumbai as well as in the rest of India, the response to Ek Tha Tiger is tremendous, just as expected. All the shows are house full everywhere and the first-day collections pan-India should be Rs 30 crore.”
Ajay Bagbai of Rajvi Trade Link adds, “In Gujarat, the response to ETT is outstanding. Cinemas halls are witnessing 100-per cent footfalls and many shows are already house full thanks to advance booking.”
In Delhi, G D Mehta of Bobby Arts International says the morning shows, which opened at 9.30 am, clocked a 100-per cent opening. ETT is a super-hit and enjoys a very good advantage due to the long weekend. Salman Khan has proved his worth once again.”
Dharam Pal of Paramount Pictures says the film’s opening in East Punjab is extraordinary and the movie has been assigned 48 shows per day in Jalandhar. “Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif each ahs a huge fan following and this is working extremely well for the film.”
Sarang Chandak of Shri Rang Films says, “Judging by the blockbuster opening of ETT, I am pretty sure the film’s first-day collections here will be Rs 1.3 crore. It has exceeded every past release.”
In Mysore, B H Basha of Bahar Enterprises concludes, “The opening of ETT is 100 per cent everywhere. The morning shows were packed and this will hold steady across today. It’s another feather in Salman Khan’s cap.”
