Pulkit Samrat, who charmed his way into Indian households by playing Laksh Virani in the legendary TV soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, makes his film debut in Bittoo Boss. The first promos of this film had generated quite a buzz on social networking sites due to its bawdy catch phrase ‘Bittoo sab ki lega’. The film, scheduled to release in April, has music by composer Raghav Sachar.

Bittoo sab ki lega (Mika, Natalie De Luccio, Neeti Mohan) is a lively number with rock and jazz influences and a forceful guitar riff. Mika’s delivery is reflective of his trademark swagger. The song is likely to find popularity with youngsters but be warned, the lyrics are lewd and cringe-worthy.

Kick lag gayi (Tulsi Kumar, Raghav Sachar) is a wedding celebratory song, which begins with a typical Punjabi folk motif before morphing into a full-fledged dance number. Sachar gets quite creative here, blending both traditional and modern sounds in an engaging manner. This one may not have a lasting appeal but is enjoyable till it lasts.

Audi – Tenu tak de (Raghav Sachar, Natalie De Luccio) slips into the routine Punjabi hip-hop fare. Sachar’s attempt to sound grungy doesn’t work and he ends up sounding flat and nasal. The other title track Kabootar (Mika) is a concoction of RDB and Bappi Lahiri’s ‘80s numbers. Although parts of Kaun kenda (Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghosal) sound fairly similar to Dekho naa (Fanaa), the romantic ballad is excessively sweet and dull. The singers, however, are earnest in their delivery.

Guest composer (GC) Gajendra Verma’s sole composition Mann jaage seems tailor-made for Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. But Shahid Mallya (Mausam), who renders this pathos-heavy number, does a neat job. Sachar’s music for Bittoo Boss is strictly average.
Verdict: Routine
