The Film and Television Producers Guild of India has thrown its weight behind filmmaker Subhash Ghai and has written to the Maharashtra Chief Minister, urging him to lend his support to Ghai’s institute Whistling Woods International(WWI).
The letter, sent on March 5 and signed by Guild President, Ramesh Sippy, former President, Manmohan Shetty,Vice-Presidents, Mukesh Bhatt, Ashutosh Gowariker,Vipul Shah and Dheeraj Kumar follows a directive from the Bombay High Court, which has asked Ghai to return the allotted land of his institute in Filmcity, Mumbai.
The Guild, in its letter, has stressed the need for a world class institute such as WWI, and points out that WWI plays a significant role in the media and entertainment industry.In response to the letter, Ghai says, “I am touched by the industry’s gesture and their understanding the objects of this institution for which we have worked for fifteen years.”
