Aparna Hoshing’s upcoming film Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal recently launched its music. We caught up with actors Ravi Kishan and Murali Sharma who not only showed off some fancy dance moves but spoke to us about their upcoming films and more…
You are doing a solo hero film after a long time. Comment.
I am very happy about this. I have done Bhojpuri films as a solo hero but this is the film that I am really excited about. I will be able to show my fans my full potential. I have worked with directors like Mani Ratnam and Shyam Benegal and this has helped me a lot.
Tell us about your character in Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal?
The film is a love story about me and Hazel (Croney). I and my gang are given a murder contract to kill someone, who turns out to be Hazel. I fall in love with her and what happens next is the story. My character in the film is Chandrabhan, who is a lover, a mafia guy and a shooter but a real guy. He thinks from his heart.
The trailers suggest that the film features a lot of abusive language. Why?
This is very natural considering where the characters in the film come from. They are uneducated and have had a rough upbringing. I had to give a lot of retakes for these scenes. But I can see why the filmmakers included this. If the film runs into trouble with the censors, we will have to dub.
What was your experience like on the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa?
I was on the show for 20 episodes and it helped me find a new audience. It was very hectic and tiring. I may have topped the show 30 years ago, when I was a hard-core struggler. But now life is comfortable. I have a lot of films pending and will concentrate on them now.
What are your upcoming Hindi films?
I am doing Zilla Ghaziabad with Sunjay Dutt. He’s a great guy to work with. I play the main villain in the film. There is Mohalla Assi with Sunny Deol. I am also doing a Y Films, Mere Dad Ki Maruthi. So, yes, I am doing some good Hindi films.
Also present at the event was actor Murali Sharma who plays a cop in this film.
What is your character in this film?
In this film I play a cop again for the hundredth time (laughs), which I completely don’t mind. This cop is very different; he is a Bihari cop (Hanumant Singh). He is a ruthless cop and for him at the end of the day only money matters. I really enjoyed doing this role.
You play a cop in most of your films. Comment.
Needless to say I quintessentially play the bad guy and a cop in all the films. And I really enjoy these things, kill people, abuse people, and rape women and get paid for it. For me the whole funda of being an actor is not to act. I like to keep it natural. Being an actor you are a new character every tenth day. I am a little choosy with my roles.
What are your other upcoming projects?
I am doing Prakash Jha’s film Chakravuyh. I play a bad guy, it’s an interesting character after Apharan I am working with Prakash Jha again. He is an intelligent man, and there is a lot to learn from him.
Apart from this then there is Paresh Rawal’s film Oh! My God this also has Akshay Kumar in the film. Then there is also My Friend Ganesha Part Four in which I am Haryanvi cop again.
