Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine featuring Kareena Kapoor in the lead opened to a mixed response on Friday but collections have risen on Saturday, especially at multiplexes. The film, which generated a lot of hype before its release, earned Rs 7.5 crore on day one. Some tradewallahs believe the film will draw a better response at the ticket window over the weekend.
In Mumbai, Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says, “The first-day collections of Heroine pan-India were Rs 7.5 crore while in Mumbai, they were Rs 3 crore. We have to wait and watch its performance over the weekend.”
Ajay Bagbai of Rajvi Trade Links says that in Gujarat, the film’s first-day collections were Rs 65-70 lakh. We are hoping the film will benefit from the weekend.”
In the Delhi-UP circuit, the much-hyped film garnered Rs 40-45 lakh on day one. G D Mehta of Bobby Arts International remarks, “Heroine opened to a mixed response on its first day, and we are not sure if the film will sail through the weekend.”
In East Punjab, collections of Heroine were below expectations on day one. “Collections here were Rs 67 lakh,” says Jaspal Dhingra of Nanaskar Enterprises. “Today, the opening was much better than yesterday and we are hopeful the film will do better over the weekend.”
Sunit Singh of Aum Moviez says that in West Bengal, collections of Heroine are “good”. “It is Rs 30 lakh. The film will definitely have better collections over the weekend. The movie is doing better in multiplexes than single-screens,” he reveals.
In CP, Sarang Chandak of Shri Rang Films concludes, “The opening of the film was good and it earned Rs 38 lakh on its first day.”
