It seems Hollywood – Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance – will score over Bollywood this week. And of the three Hindi films that released today – Ekk Deewana Tha, ? and Married 2 America – Ekk Deewana Tha is getting some traction. The other two films were a washout.
Meanwhile, last week’s release Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu has impressed the audience with its unusual rom-com story but Valentine’s Night failed to capture hearts, even during Valentine’s Week.
In Mumbai, Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says, “The opening of all three films was average though Ekk Deewana Tha fared a little better than the other two. It took an opening of about 20 per cent in multiplexes but I don’t think collections will improve at the weekend as it’s exam time. Married 2 America took a mere 5 per cent opening.”
In Delhi-UP, GD Mehta of Bobby Arts International says the situation was no different in his territory. “Ekk Deewana Tha scored higher than the other two films, with an opening of 20-25 per cent. The rest scored near zero. The film ? film had a limited release and I don’t think its collections will reach even 5 per cent. Everyone feels that Married 2 America is a good film so its collections may improve to 15 per cent due to word of mouth publicity. In Delhi-NCR, Ekk Deewana Tha received an opening of 35 per cent. I don’t think it will improve because the consensus is that it’s a bad and slow movie.”
In Punjab, Surendra Saluja of Lakshya Movies was equally gloomy. ? did not release here and Ekk Deewana Tha took a 15 per cent opening. The other movie has no opening at all. I doubt the weekend will see better prospects at the box office.”
In West Bengal, Sunit Singh of Aum Moviez adds, “Only Ekk Deewana Tha got an opening of 20 per cent. The other two films received a 3-4 per cent opening and. I don’t think things will improve in the week ahead. The English film, Ghost Rider is doing well though.”
In CP, Sarang Chandak of Shri Rang Films predicts a “bad week” in the territory. “Only Ekk Deewana Tha took an opening, that too only 20 per cent. Married 2 America has not released in CP and the other film ? took a zero opening. Perhaps, Ekk Deewana Tha will improve to 30 per cent at the weekend but not more.”
In Rajasthan, Sunil Bansal of Yash Raj Jai Pictures says Ekk Deewana Tha received a 20 per cent opening while the opening of the other two films was 3-4 per cent. “I don’t think collections will go up at the weekend.”
In Assam, Siddharth Goenka of Goenka Enterprises concludes, “Here, in Assam, we didn’t get any opening at all. Ekk Deewana Tha took 3-4 per cent while the other two Hindi films had no opening. Hollywood film Ghost Rider has received a good opening and I think Hollywood will beat Bollywood this weekend.”
