Its RA.Everywhere

Shah Rukh Khan’s RA.One, which released on October 26, is way ahead of this week’s other releases, Himesh Reshammiya’s Damadamm! and Esha Deol’s Tell Me O Kkhuda, both of which released on October 27. These two newly released movies could not sustain themselves at the box office thanks to the year’s biggest release. The first-day collections of RA.One surpassed distributors’ expectations whereas collections of the other two movies were not at all up to the mark.

Mumbai distributor Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says, “The second-day collections of RA.One were approximately Rs 25 crore while the first-day collections of Damadamm! were around Rs 50 lakh. Tell Me O Kkhuda took an opening of less than Rs 50 lakh. These movies will work at the box office only via word of mouth.”

In the Punjab territory, Dharam Pal of Paramount Pictures adds, “Shows of Tell Me O Kkhuda were cancelled due to lack of audience but Damadamm! managed to earn one to two per cent. Though RA.One does not have a great story, the star cast earned the film Rs 2.7 crore on its second day. There is a slight fall in the third-day collections.”

The newly released movies failed to leave a mark at Kolkata cinema halls. Debashish Dey of Aum Moviez states, “The first-day collections of Damadamm! were very poor as were those of Tell Me O Kkhuda. RA.One’s second-day collections were Rs 1.2 crore. The total eastern circuit collections of RA.One were approximately Rs 2 crore. The third-day collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s film will be more terrific than the first and second days’ because of the ongoing festival period.”

Rajasthan distributor Sanjay Marudhar of Marudhar Entertainment says, “Damadamm! had only one or two shows in the territory whereas Tell Me O Kkhuda’s first-day collections were not more than five to ten per cent. The second-day collections of RA.One were about Rs 1.4 crore. The first two days’ collections of RA.One have broken all records within the territory. They were much higher than that of Bodyguard.”

In Delhi, Deep Jain of Divya Films says collections of the newly released movies “are not worth talking about”. “The second-day collections of RA.One were Rs 4.68 crore all over India and UP. And it is only growing with each show.”

Orissa distributor Jeetu Khandelwal of Movie Pioneers says Tell Me O Kkhuda did not released in the territory whereas Damadamm!’s collections failed to meet expectations. The second-day collections of RA.One were 90 to 95 per cent.”

B H Basha of Bahar Enterprise adds, “In Mysore, the second-day collections of RA.One were around Rs 1.02 crore but the third day has witnessed a drop. Within nine days, RA.One will cross the Rs 100 crore mark. The first-day collections of the two newly released movies were around five per cent. This is because a regional Tamil movie released along with them.”
