Pooja Bhatt’s much-hyped Jism 2 opened to a mixed response on its first day. The film, which did not live up to the expectations of the audience, managed to reel in Rs 7 crore on its opening day. It took a decent start at the ticket window in most circuits today and distributors are hopeful that the film will enjoy a good weekend.
In Mumbai, Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says, “The pan-India collections of the film are Rs 7.5 crore and in Mumbai, Rs 3 crore. The film opened on a decent note today and it will, hopefully, enjoy a very good weekend.”
In Delhi-UP, Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts says, “The first day wrapped at Rs 1.6 crore. Day two opened on a good note but due to adverse word-of-mouth publicity, the film will suffer in the days to come.”
Adds Jaspal Dhingra of Nanaskar Enterprises, “The buzz around the film and Sunny Leone have helped the film. The first-day collections here are Rs 89 lakh and the weekend should be around Rs 2 crore.”
However, Sarang Chandak of Shri Rang Films says collections for Jism 2 on day one were Rs 40 lakh but there was a 25-per cent drop in footfalls today. “The film will see a further drop during the evening shows.”
On the other hand, Sunil Bansal of Yash Raj Jai Pictures in Rajasthan says Jism 2 earned Rs 40 lakh on the first day, in the territory. “There are a lot of hopes from the weekend.”
In Orissa, Jeetu Khandelwal of Movie Pioneers concludes, “The first day collections of Jism 2 were around Rs 6 lakh. The film will see a decent weekend but will definitely experience a fall in numbers on Monday.”
