Mumbai Film Festival(MAMI)

Pina

DIRECTOR: Wim Wenders

COUNTRY: France/ Germany

The concept is simplistic – an ode to Pina Bausch, the most brilliant dancer of all time. It is a dedication of dance pieces to her comprising of modern dance and ballet by her colleagues and students from the dance company. Everyone who knew her had the privilege of taking away something lasting and beyond dance.

Love, respect, standing up for oneself, letting yourself loose… all these emotions are defined by her choreography. You become a part of the movie from the very first minute and it is difficult to take your eyes off the screen even for a minute. The dance pieces are phenomenal and are perfectly complimented with great music. Every piece is a unique blend of emotion, movement and expression, which capture your heart and leave a mark.

The movie is shot around Wuppental, Pina Bausch’s home and the inspiration for her dance. Great work behind the camera by Director W Wenders who has made this film a true work of art.
