Actor Rajesh Khanna breathed his last at his Bandra residence on July 18. The superstar had been battling ill health for a while and was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital last week, following a drop in his blood pressure. He was discharged from hospital on Tuesday. The actor, who was 69, is survived by wife Dimple Kapadia and daughters Twinkle and Rinke. His last rites will be performed on July 19 at 11 am.
The talented actor appeared in over 100 films and had an illustrious career which spanned four decades. Fondly known as Kaka, Khanna had a host of hits like Anand, Kati Patang and Aradhana to his credit. Some of the best songs of the film industry were filmed on the veteran actor, who became the face of Kishore Kumar’s lilting numbers. During the ‘70s, Khanna’s hairstyles, fashion sense, head bob and inimitable wink were all a fashion statement for the youth.
Our condolences to the icon who ruled the Golden Era of the Hindi film industry. R.I.P.
