Salman Khan’s Ready took a head-start on the day of its release and maintained a steady tempo over the weekend as well. The film did exceedingly well across almost all territories in over the last three days, and, according to most distributors, the action-comedy will continue to play to packed houses this week too.
In Mumbai, the film experienced a good run in most cinemas over the weekend. Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says, “The film has made close to Rs 15 crore in the Mumbai territory alone. The all-India weekend business is pegged at Rs 40-42 crore. We will have to wait and see how it performs this week.”
Ready did very well in Delhi too, with most shows running houseful. According to Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts, “I am positive that the film will continue its prosperous run this week too.”
Sunil Bansal of Yash Raj Jai Pictures says that the weekend business of Ready in Rajasthan was “excellent” and gross collections were around Rs 2 crore. “This week, there may be a slight drop in its business but, on the whole, the film will enjoy a steady run.”
The film was quite a hit with the ladies in the South, where B H Basha of Bahar Enterprises reveals, “In Mysore, the female audience is turning up in droves to watch this Salman Khan-starrer. The audience is really appreciating the action, comedy, music and songs. It has generated great appeal among movie-goers, with weekend business clocking 70 to 75 per cent.”
In Punjab, Ready did not get off to a great start and the opening collections of the film were just about okay. But distributors have enough reason to cheer as the film generated good business over the weekend. Punjab distributor Surendra Saluja of Lakshya Movies says, “The film clocked about 90 per cent. The audience did not warm up to the film on the first day but it is doing very well now.” He predicts that Ready’s collections will not exceed those of Salman Khan’s previous hit Dabangg.
Like the rest of the country, in Orissa too, Ready film did well on the weekend. Jeetu Khandelwal of Movie Pioneers concludes, “The film managed 90 to 92 per cent. It may dip this week, especially on weekdays, but will still do well.”
