Subhash Ghai and Jackie Shroff paid a day long tribute to ace cinematographer Ashok Mehta at the Whistling Woods campus with veterans of the industry and Mehta’s family members. The campus was decorated with exhibits, special classes and seminars discussing films shot by the cinematographer and his body of work. A screening of his directorial debut Moksh featuring Manisha Koirala and Arjun Rampal was also shown to the students.
Ghai, as a tribute to his friend and colleage Ashok Mehta also surprised the audience comprising students and industry professionals by screening a song of the most talked about film Devaa toplining Amitabh Bachchan. The film was shelved after one schedule unfortunately due to unavoidable circumstances… The song was the first time Ghai had collaborated with Mehta and Mr Bachchan. After the film was shelved, Ghai shifted his entire unit of technicians that were signed for Devaa, including music composers Laxmikant and Pyarelal, for his smaller budget film Ram Lakhan. The song from the film Devaa received a standing ovation by the students.
