UTV Wins Case Against Percept On Shoebite

Percept had filed a case against Shoojit Sircar, the director of the movie Shoebite and UTV Motion Pictures, restraining them from infringing their copyrights in the script and dialogue of the film Johnny Walker, including making a film.

On July 16, 2008 an order was passed in favour of Percept which restrained UTV from proceeding with the shooting of the film. UTV filed an appeal against this order, however, the suit was pending for hearing. On May 2, 2011, the matter finally came up for hearing before the Mediator appointed by the Delhi High Court Mediation Cell. Finally in March 2012, the Honorable Court dismissed the suit filed by Percept, hence upholding UTV’s stand on the issue.
