Who Was Nathuram Godse?

A film on controversial historical figure, Nathuram Godse, assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, is all set to hit the floors. Produced by Dr Santosh Rai, under the banner Bramarashi Films, the film is titled Godse.

“There have been several films like Gandhi and The Making Of The Mahatma on the life and times of Mahatma Gandhi. But no one has made a film on Nathuram Godse

to date. The world knows him as the killer of the Mahatma and associates him only with his assassination. But few know that Nathuram Godse was a true patriot too. He had his own ideologies for the betterment of the country. People do not know the truth behind Godse’s beliefs and principles,” says Dr Rai, on the inspiration behind his film.

Dr Rai says the movie will bring to light the “facts about Godse”. “Who was Nathuram Godse? What was his real name? Why was he called Nathuram? Why did he kill Gandhiji? These are just a few questions I hope to answer through my film.”

Dr Rai says it took him three years to research the movie. The cast is currently being finalised an announcement will be made soon.
