“Casting hones my acting skills”

Aakash Dahiya is all excited for his upcoming film Bobby Jasoos. Here is a small chat with the actor about his journey

On Bobby Jasoos

The title and genre made me say ‘yes’ to Bobby Jasoos as it was very out-of-the-box. We don’t have many detective movies in Bollywood, and this is India’s first female detective film. Moreover, it does not conform to the stereotype of a detective in a coat and hat. My character Munna plays a very important role as I am Bobby’s (Vidya Balan’s) team member and helps her solve cases. We shot the entire film in Hyderabad and it was an amazing experience to shoot there to get into the Hyderabadi zone. Before we started shooting, we also did some workshops on language and body language as these elements vary greatly within India.

On Vidya Balan

When director Samar (Shaikh) told me Vidya Balan was playing the lead, I knew I had to do the film. After all, who doesn’t want to share the screen with her? She is a brilliant actress. Just watching her get into her character and living it is a learning experience. She pays attention to the minutest of details and makes her co-star very comfortable to work with. The entire team was very supportive and everyone helped each other to give of their best. Our entire unit became like a family, thanks to our producers Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha.

Casting helps me grow as an actor

Apart from acting, I also work with Mukesh Chhabra in casting and casting helps me grow as an actor. Casting sessions help me improve my acting capabilities and I get to do lot of training. I feel casting is the best place to grow as I am doing camera work, direction and acting too. Thus, it helps me improve in every aspect of filmmaking.

Future Projects

I am currently shooting for Zeishan Quadri’s Meeruthiya Gangsters and have signed Nikhil Advani’s next.
