Bengali actor Dev is set to produce Padma Shri winner Subhasini Mistry's biopic

Bengali movie actor and heartthrob Dev will be seen donning the hat of a producer for the biopic on Subhasini Mistry. For those who do not know, Subhasini Mistry is a Kolkata based social worker who received the India's fourth highest civilian award the Padma Shri in 2018. She had worked as a house maid, a manual labourer and sold vegetables to raise four of her children after her husband died when she was 24. Born in a poor family, she got married at the tender age of 12. She went to build a charitable hospital called Humanity Hospital for the underprivileged in Thakurpukur, Kolkata in 1996. She also founded a treatment unit in Sunderbans to ensure that the poor and needy are not deprived of medical treatment.

The biopic will trace the journey of Mistry from her early 20s to the late 60s. A single actress will be cast to play her across different ages. Prosthetics will be used to render more authenticity and believability. A fresh face will be cast to essay the role of the social worker. The biopic is tentatively titled Padma Shri Subhasini Mistry, and will be directed by Aniket Chattopadhyay, who last directed Dev and Rukmini Maitra starrer Kabir. As a part of the preparation, the cast will be spending some time in the rural nooks of South Bengal to get a hook of the dialect. The script for the film is ready and the pre-production is currently underway.

Now the question is, will we get to see Dev act in the film? Wouldn’t that be great? Keep watching to know as we keep updating you with the latest developments…
