The first poster of Dharma Productions’ horror film, Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship featuring Vicky Kaushal grabbed a lot of eyeballs for this would be the first time that the actor would be seen in a horror film.
Team Box Office India recently caught up with the National Award-winning actor who spoke at length about the film and the impact that it had on him. He said, “When I read the script, I was really scared. I wanted to hide somewhere. I was reading the script late at night between 12 am to 3 am. After reading the script, I was so thirsty but I didn’t have the courage to go to the kitchen. I was so scared to go the bathroom. I just wanted to put on the blanket, turn my lights on and go to sleep.”
So what convinced him to be part of a genre that he is so terrified of as an audience? “I was thinking that the script is so good but really scary at the same time. “It was going to be very different for me because it was the first time that I was going to exploring this genre. I’ve always followed my gut and it said that it would be fun to do something like this. Whether a film is going to be a hit or a flop is something that you cannot predict beforehand. But everybody gave their best. We had the conviction and the intention to do something interesting,” he replied.
On adding to his, he stated that Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship might open him up to more horror films. “I wanted to explore something new. And you never know, maybe after this film, I might just start watching horror films. I had a great time shooting for that film.”
We surely are looking forward to the film for this is going to be Dharma’s second horror venture after Kaal that released in 2005. Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship, also starring Bhumi Pednekar, is directed by debutant director Bhanu Pratap Singh and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan. It is slated for a November 15, 2019 release.
