Long-in-the-making Kucch Luv Jaisaa, starring Shefali Shah and Rahul Bose, finally hits the marquee this month. Produced by the leading lady’s husband and renowned Hindi film producer Vipul Shah, Kucch Luv Jaisaa features four original compositions by leading music director Pritam.
Naina (Mohit Chauhan, Monali) is in the same mould as Bheegi si from Raajneeti. The female singer gets to sing only the chorus while Mohit Chauhan renders the rest of the romantic song. A pleasant but highly predictable tune, Naina cashes in on the popularity and uniqueness of Mohit’s voice. Nothing else.
Khwab (Nikhil D’Souza) is a soft melody about disillusionment. Though the tune is similar to Pritam’s earlier compositions, what sets this one apart to some extent is Nikhil’s heartfelt rendition. The young singer attempts to salvage the song but the dreariness of the composition is too overbearing for him to make an impact.
Thoda Sa Pyaar is found in three versions but it’s the Sunidhi Chauhan and Anupam Amod version that appeals most. Sunidhi has, in the past, displayed amazing control when she has to render gentle, soft numbers and it’s no different here. Anupam Amod (last heard in Saudebaazi from Aakrosh) provides the right support.
The other versions by Naresh Iyer and Mannan Shah pale in comparison. Baadalon pe paon (Mannan Shah) designed as a feel-good song ends up a labored effort.
It’s a lazy piece of work by Pritam.
