When director Mani Ratnam was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai, there were reports floating around that he had some cardiac issues. According to a leading daily, the director was admitted due to acidity-related problems after he complained of chest pain. The director was discharged in a day.
But now his publicist issued a statement saying that all the news about cardiac problems is false. His publicist tweeted that Mani Ratnam was admitted for regular health check up. Apparently, this is a practise he follows before starting shoot for any film.
So this means that Mani Ratnam is all set to start work on his film based on the historical novel Ponniyin Selvan. An ambitious multi-starrer, the film's cast has not been revealed. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the only one who has accepted that she is doing a film with Mani Ratnam. This will be their fourth collaboration together, after Iruvar (her debut in 1997), Guru (2007) and Raavan (2010). Also, it is reported that the actress Anushka Shetty will join Mani Ratnam's historical film. You can read about it here.
