Music directors: Sajid and Wajid

Lyrics: Javed Akhtar

Sajid-Wajid haven’t had much success since their sensational soundtrack for Dabangg last year. They now join hands with renowned poet Javed Akhtar to create the music for Chirag Paswan’s debut film Miley Naa Miley Hum. Chirag, son of former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, is cast alongside Kangna Ranaut in this romantic flick.

The album, comprising five original tracks, opens with Haan Yahi pyaar hain (Shaan, Shreya Ghosal), a love song that’s soft and sugary. But everything about this track is hackneyed. Even Akhtar, whose words normally spell magic, ends up writing trite lyrics for this one.

Wake up now (Wajid, Suzanne D’Mello) has a tiny tabla prelude similar to the club hit It’s the time to disco (Kal Ho Naa Ho) but, sadly, that’s where the resemblance ends. Though Wajid and Suzanne try to up the energy quotient with some inspired singing, it’s just not enough to lift this dreary dance track.

Nazar se nazar mile (Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Anupama Raag) works due to its simple melody and Khan’s exquisite voice. Though one wonders why the composers didn’t rope in Tulsi Kumar since Anupama sounds so much like her. Yet, this romantic number, with traces of Sufiana and qawwali styles, makes for pleasant listening.Mahi mahi (Richa Sharma, Wajid) lacks both the zing and vivacity associated with Punjabi songs. Kattoo gilehri (Daler Mehndi, Mamta Sharma) seems to have popped out of a conveyor belt for mundane item numbers.

Verdict: Boring
