Rakul Preet Singh debuted in films in 2009, but it was her 2013 release Venkatadri Express that brought her into the limelight. She went on to debut in Bollywood as well, but she kept on doing films in Tamil and Telugu. She worked with some of the top actors and managed to create a good balance between South Indian films and Bollywood. Her last release in Hindi was De De Pyaar De with Ajay Devgn and Tabu and now she is looking forward to Manmadhudu 2 with Nagarjuna.
In an interview with a leading daily, Rakul spoke about her journey and how she has matured as an actress and as a person. "I started at the age of 18. For me, it’s been a long, but a good journey. The good part is that a film like De De Pyaar De came to me at a time when I could understand its emotional complexities. I don't think I would have been ready to play a part like this in 2014 when I did Yaariyan and moved to Telugu cinema. I understood the business by being a part of it; I had no one who could explain things or show me the way, “ she said.
Rakul's upcoming films include S Shankar's Indian 2 in Tamil along with Kamal Haasan and R. Ravikumar's SK14, along with Sivakarthikeyan, both in Tamil. In Hindi she has Milap Zaveri's Marjaavaan, along with Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh and Tara Sutaria.
