Srijit Mukherji’s Ek Je Chhilo Raja got him the Best Director Award at the BFI Rainbow Film Festival in London. The film, starring Jisshu U Sengupta, has won a total of 15 awards and six festival laurels at film festivals such as Palm Spring International, Dhaka International, Stuttgart Indian Film Festival and South Asian International Film Festival in New York.
In the Dhaka International Film Festival, Ek Je Chhilo Raja along with Srijit’s Uma, also starring Jisshu, got received the Audience Award for Best Film. In an interview with a leading daily, Srijit talked about his two films that was selected at the film festival. He said, “It is rare that two films of the same filmmaker secure an official selection in the same festival. And it has happened twice. Hence, I am doubly happy.”
Meanwhile, Ek Je Chhilo Raja was also screened at Stuttgart Indian Film Festival on July 20. Srijit went to Stuttgart to attend the festival. You can read about it here.
Srijit's films have been having a good run in the film festival circuit. His last release Vinci Da was screened at the London Indian Film Festival.
On the work front, Srijit Mukherji next is Gumnaami starring Prosenjit Chatterjee in the lead role. The film is produced by SVF Entertainment and is slated for a January 2020 release.
