Singer Brijesh Shandaliya shares with Joanne D’silva the response to the song Sanu kehndi from Kesari and his journey with the number

The soundtrack of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Kesari is doing the rounds on digital platforms and singer Brijesh Shandaliya, who has lent his voice to the number Sanu kehndi, tells us how he got on board this project. “Tanishk Bagchi, who has composed the song, and Azeem Dayani, who has selected the track, asked me to listen to the track. I was really excited when I heard the song. It is a peppy number and they told me that this track would be featured in a big film.”

He adds, “The song features in Kesari, a period drama, and that was a big responsibility for me. The composition and the lyrics were very good, and knowing that Akshay Kumar was the lead actor in this film gave me that extra boost.”

On working with Bagchi once again, Shandaliya remarks, “We are used to working with each other. We understand each other’s beats. Some of my most popular tracks have been done with Tanishk Bagchi.”

The artiste also works on independent music and says, “To enter the market, you have to sing for Bollywood films because you get to sing for big actors. We don’t spend huge sums on singles. But it is a huge responsibility. The liability increases and getting artistes onboard gets difficult. So I prefer Bollywood tracks. But you should continue to do independent singles because they showcase your true talent. Unlike singing for a Bollywood movie, you can do whatever you like when making a single.”

Shandaliya is ecstatic with the response to Sanu kehndi. “I’m getting a good response. Every year, I have been doing something interesting and fun. And I want to thank Tanishk and Azeem for giving me the opportunity to work with them. Last year, I had Badhaai Ho and before that, I had sung in Golmaal Again!!! So, the positive feedback must be shared as it is all about teamwork.”

The singer says the number would be incomplete without mentioning lyricist Kumaar. “Moreover, I had such a good experience working with him, he is such a good guide. He has always pointed me in the right direction in the industry. I had worked with him on Golmaal Again!!! and on many more tracks. The decisions we take come from our hearts, not our minds. I am proud to work with him,” says Shandaliya.
