Lyricist Sayeed Quadri on his upcoming projects with composer Mithoon
Ever since his debut to Bollywood in 2003 with Mahesh Bhatt’s film Jism, lyricist Sayeed Quadri has been moving up the ladder with every song he writes. Quadri shone on the music scene with the romantic track Bheenge hont tere and since then he has offered romantic melodies for several films such as Barfi!, Billu, Gangster, Raaz, Murder and more.
After contributing soulful lyrics to Khamoshiyan and Hamari Adhuri Kahani last year, Quadri penned a few tracks for Girish Kumar and Navneet Dhillon’s upcoming film Loveshhuda, Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited Shivaay and R Balki’s Ki And Ka. Speaking about writing lyrics, Quadri says, “Song writing is an art; it is a very difficult task to master. Every lyricist has his own take and each song caters to a certain genre. There is no formula when it comes to song writing. For me, writing songs is more a hobby than a profession.”
His first project to release this year is Loveshhuda, which comprises two tracks penned by him and composed by Mithoon. The lyricist says both tracks are melodious and highlight the yearning between lovers.
Quadri adds, “I am fortunate that neither the director nor the producer ever asked me to write hook lines for the songs, nor have I ever worked on hook lines. The narrative given was simple: the songs are about two lovers who can’t even stand the thought of being away from each other.”
Quadri has earlier worked with Mithoon on several projects and his next two projects – Shivaay and Ki And Ka also happen to be with the same composer. Without revealing much about the songs of the film, he comments on his association with Mithoon, saying, “I have worked with Mithoon on several projects and it is always fun to work with a composer who understands you and works on the same wavelength. We have a good understanding and that reflects in our work. Fortunately, my next two films are also with Mithoon.”
